After nearly two decades of evading capture, operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have finally arrested Ogbonnaya Kevin Jeff, a 59-year-old drug kingpin, at his hideout in Ojo, Lagos.
Speaking at a press briefing in Abuja on Monday, March 3, 2025, NDLEA Chairman/CEO Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (Rtd.) revealed that Ogbonnaya had been on their radar following an Interpol red notice and intelligence from South Korea’s National Intelligence Service.
According to Marwa, the suspect led a global drug trafficking network, smuggling illicit substances worth billions across international borders. He was also responsible for recruiting young Nigerians as drug couriers to South Korea.
During the raid, NDLEA operatives uncovered multiple Nigerian passports with Korean visas, allegedly used for trafficking, along with illicit drugs stored in a concealed warehouse behind his residence. Investigations also linked him to money laundering through the importation of electronics and other goods.
After years of eluding law enforcement, his arrest marks a major victory in the fight against drug trafficking and organized crime.
