The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has blamed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the recent wave of violent killings in parts of Kwara State, describing the incidents as a reflection of worsening insecurity across the country.
In a statement released on Tuesday, the opposition party accused the federal government of failing to protect lives and property, arguing that the continued bloodshed in Kwara highlights what it termed a breakdown of security under the current administration.
The ADC expressed concern that despite repeated assurances from the presidency, communities in Kwara State are increasingly vulnerable to attacks by suspected armed groups. According to the party, residents now live in fear as violence continues to disrupt daily life, farming activities, and local commerce.
The party further criticized what it described as a slow and ineffective response from security agencies, insisting that the federal government must take full responsibility for safeguarding citizens. It called on President Tinubu to urgently review Nigeria’s security architecture and deploy decisive measures to halt the killings.
ADC leaders also urged security agencies to intensify intelligence gathering and ensure that perpetrators of the attacks are identified and prosecuted to restore public confidence in the justice system.
While reiterating its sympathy with families affected by the violence, the party warned that continued silence or inaction could further embolden criminal elements, deepening insecurity not only in Kwara State but across the nation.
As pressure mounts on the federal government, the Kwara killings have once again brought national attention to the broader challenges of security, governance, and accountability in Nigeria.
