Anambra State Governor, Prof. Charles Chukwuma Soludo, is set to commission two major shopping malls — the Awka Mega Mall and the Ekwulobia Mall — as part of his administration’s efforts to transform the state into a commercial and lifestyle destination in the Southeast.
According to reports, the Ekwulobia Mall has been fully completed, while the Awka Mega Mall is now in its final phase of construction and expected to open before the Yuletide season.
Once operational, these two additions will bring the total number of major malls in Anambra to three — Onitsha Mall, Awka Mega Mall, and Ekwulobia Mall — creating vibrant shopping and leisure hubs across the state.
Governor Soludo’s urban development plan aims to make Anambra more attractive for business, tourism, and investment, covering major cities such as Awka, Onitsha, Ekwulobia, and Nnewi.
In addition to these malls, the state is already home to several thriving retail chains, including Roban Stores (with three branches), Everyday Supermarket, Zara’s Stores, and Radopin Superstores, among others.
The completion of these projects reflects the governor’s vision of building a livable, prosperous homeland for Ndi Anambra and boosting the local economy through infrastructural renewal.
