A political commentator and stakeholder from Ngwa Land, Ezemuo Ubani Dannie Manja, popularly known as Gbachia Gbachia 1 of Ngwa Land, has penned a strongly worded message to Dee Eric Opah, cautioning him against what he described as a calculated political trap ahead of the 2027 governorship election in Abia State.
In the emotionally charged letter titled “Don’t Be a Pawn in Their Game,” the writer opened with philosophical reflections from his farm before drawing literary references from Ovonramwen Nogbaisi by Ola Rotimi to explain what he believes is the hidden agenda behind the alleged push for Dee Eric Opah’s governorship ambition under the All Progressives Congress (APC).
According to him, while many may see the reported move as a political opportunity, he believes it is instead part of a long-term strategy by powerful interests positioning themselves for 2031 rather than genuinely fighting to win the 2027 election.
The writer argued that the political calculations surrounding the race changed after Alex Otti allegedly overcame political and legal challenges that opponents expected would weaken his administration and his standing within the Labour Party.
He specifically referenced Benjamin Kalu as a key figure whose earlier political strategy, according to him, was aimed at positioning against Governor Otti but has now shifted toward a longer-term 2031 agenda.
In the letter, the author warned Dee Eric Opah not to allow himself to be used as a “placeholder” candidate whose role would allegedly be to divide Ngwa support while other political actors quietly align with Governor Otti during the election.
“They are scheming for 2031. Their game is to use your candidature to polarize Ngwa home support for Gov. Otti’s re-election while they will all massively rally around the same Gov. Otti in the same election with their votes,” the letter stated.
The message further described Dee Eric Opah as “too neat for their dirty game,” while urging him not to fall into what the author called a carefully orchestrated political arrangement.
The writer concluded by advising caution, strategy, and timing in politics, insisting that governorship victories require more than popularity or goodwill.
The letter has since generated conversations across political circles in Abia State, particularly among supporters of the APC, Labour Party, and stakeholders from Ngwa Land, as permutations ahead of the 2027 elections continue to gather momentum.
