Rt. Hon. Engr. Chinedum Orji, former Speaker of the Abia State House of Assembly and APC candidate for the House of Representatives seat representing Ikwuano/Umuahia North/Umuahia South Federal Constituency, has emerged victorious in the recently concluded All Progressives Congress primaries, recording a sweeping victory across all thirty-two wards within the constituency.
The primary election, which attracted delegates, stakeholders, and party supporters from the three local government areas, ended with a resounding endorsement of the former Speaker’s political strength, grassroots appeal, and continued relevance within the APC structure in Abia State.

From Ikwuano to Umuahia North and Umuahia South, delegates voted overwhelmingly in favour of Rt. Hon. Engr. Chinedum Orji, in what political observers have described as one of the most dominant performances witnessed in recent APC primary elections in the state.
Following the declaration of results, celebrations reportedly erupted across different parts of the constituency as supporters, youth groups, and party loyalists hailed the outcome as recognition of loyalty, accessibility, experience, and longstanding political engagement with the people.
Observers who monitored the exercise commended the peaceful conduct of the primaries and praised party delegates for demonstrating unity and collective resolve in rallying behind a candidate they believe possesses the competence and legislative experience required to effectively represent the constituency at the National Assembly.
Several APC stakeholders also maintained that the outcome reflects increasing cohesion and strategic alignment within the party ahead of the 2027 general elections. According to them, Rt. Hon. Engr. Chinedum Orji remains one of the party’s strongest political figures capable of strengthening the APC’s structure and expanding its support base across the federal constituency.
Speaking shortly after the announcement of the results, Rt. Hon. Engr. Chinedum Orji expressed appreciation to delegates, party executives, leaders, and supporters for the overwhelming confidence reposed in him.
He described the victory as not merely personal, but a collective triumph built on unity, loyalty, and shared commitment toward advancing the interests of the people of Ikwuano, Umuahia North, and Umuahia South.
According to him, the mandate freely given by party members would further strengthen his commitment toward effective representation, empowerment programmes, infrastructural advocacy, and people-oriented legislation capable of delivering sustainable development across the constituency.
He further urged party faithful to remain united and focused ahead of the general elections, reiterating the APC’s determination to consolidate and expand its political presence across Abia State.
Political analysts believe the comprehensive victory has further solidified Rt. Hon. Engr. Chinedum Orji’s position as a major force in Abia politics and a leading contender in the forthcoming House of Representatives election.
