Operatives of the Nigeria Police Force in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) have intervened swiftly to rescue suspected robbery suspects from being lynched by an angry mob, averting what could have resulted in jungle justice.
According to police sources, the suspects were apprehended by residents who accused them of involvement in a robbery incident within the area. Tensions reportedly escalated as the crowd attempted to take the law into their own hands before police operatives arrived at the scene.
The prompt response by the police restored calm and ensured the suspects were safely taken into custody for proper investigation. The command reiterated that while community vigilance is encouraged, citizens must refrain from mob action and allow law enforcement agencies to carry out their constitutional duties.
Facetoface TV gathered that the police also warned that jungle justice undermines the rule of law and could lead to the loss of innocent lives, urging residents to always report suspected crimes through official channels.
The rescued suspects are currently undergoing interrogation, while investigations continue to determine their level of involvement in the alleged crime.
