Former National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, has declared that the 2027 general election will represent a decisive struggle between ordinary Nigerians and what he described as oppressive forces.
Oyegun made the statement while addressing party stakeholders and political observers, noting that widespread economic hardship, insecurity, and governance challenges have deepened public frustration across the country.
According to him, many Nigerians are no longer focused on party labels but are instead driven by a desire to reclaim dignity, fairness, and accountable leadership. He argued that the next election would go beyond political rivalry and reflect a collective resistance against policies and actions perceived to have worsened the living conditions of citizens.
The former APC chairman further emphasized that rising inflation, unemployment, and insecurity have united Nigerians across ethnic and religious lines, creating what he described as a common front against oppression.
Oyegun urged political leaders and parties to recognize the growing consciousness among voters, warning that attempts to manipulate or intimidate the electorate may backfire.
