Former Rivers State Governor and Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has stated that political mobilisation in support of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu does not depend on the backing of a sitting governor.
Wike made the assertion while addressing supporters and party stakeholders, stressing that grassroots structures and committed party members are sufficient to drive political support. According to him, effective mobilisation is rooted in strong political organisation and connection with the people, rather than the influence of any single office holder.
He argued that political loyalty and support cannot be forced through official positions, noting that history has shown that elections are often decided by the will of the people rather than the endorsement of governors. Wike added that those who believe a governor’s position automatically guarantees mass support are misreading political realities.
The former Rivers governor further emphasised that President Tinubu’s leadership and policies would speak for themselves, attracting support from Nigerians across different regions without the need for political pressure or inducement.
