Following a deadly attack in the Kaiama area of Kwara State, Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has convened an emergency security council meeting with top security officials to review the state’s response and strengthen efforts to protect lives and property. The meeting took place at the Ahmadu Bello House in Ilorin on Monday night, as authorities seek to prevent further violence and reassure residents.
The attack, which occurred in the Woro community in Kaiama Local Government Area, reportedly claimed scores of lives and has sparked concern across the North‑Central region. National leaders, including President Bola Tinubu, have condemned the violence and directed military support to the area under Operation Savannah Shield to curb further unrest.
At the meeting, security chiefs briefed the governor on the evolving situation, and strategies to enhance coordinated responses were discussed. Governor AbdulRazaq described the session as part of a multi‑layered approach to address emerging security threats, saying the gathering was necessary to “review the security situation and strengthen coordinated efforts to address emerging threats to our citizens.”
He expressed confidence that the resolutions reached would help improve safety in affected communities and foster a quicker return to normalcy. The governor also welcomed the federal government’s deployment of troops to reinforce security operations in the region, a move aimed at deterring future attacks and restoring calm.
Security officials in Kwara and federal authorities continue to work together, conducting assessments and relief operations in the Kaiama area. The state government has also engaged with community and traditional leaders to ensure that humanitarian needs are addressed and that displaced residents receive support during the difficult period.
