The Senate of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has announced an emergency meeting for student leaders, stakeholders, comrades, and all vehicle owners operating with NANS-branded official number plates across the five South East states.
According to a notice issued by the Senate President, Dist. Senator Ibeabuchi Moses Onyia (IBB), the meeting is scheduled to hold in Awka, Anambra State, on Monday, July 20, 2026, beginning at 7:00 a.m.
The association directed all affected participants to arrive in Awka on or before Sunday, July 19, to ensure adequate preparation and prompt attendance.
NANS described the meeting as critical to the affairs of the association, emphasizing that attendance is mandatory for all student leaders, stakeholders, comrades, and individuals whose vehicles bear official NANS number plates.
The student body warned that failure to comply with the directive could attract disciplinary measures, particularly concerning the continued use of NANS-issued vehicle number plates.
According to the notice, any vehicle owner or operator who fails to attend the meeting risks having the privilege of using the association’s official number plates withdrawn with immediate effect.
The Senate also urged student leaders and stakeholders across the South East to circulate the notice widely to ensure that every concerned person is adequately informed and complies with the directive.
